Research & Learning Services Librarian Position – Preston Medical Library

The Preston Medical Library at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville, Tennessee, is seeking applicants for a Research & Learning Services Librarian position. Rank shall be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Knoxville is known for its proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains and urban wildernesses, but it also boasts a lively downtown, diverse communities, and is the home of the University of Tennessee’s flagship campus. Required Qualifications: Master’s degree from an ALA accredited library school and 1-2 years of experience in a health sciences library; Comprehensive knowledge of library reference sources and strong database searching skills including National Library of Medicine’s PubMed and CINAHL required; Strong service orientation, self-motivation, and the ability to multi-task; Experience designing and teaching library instruction classes and developing supporting materials; Demonstrated analytical, written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to work as part of a team required; Medical Library Association Academy of Health Information Professionals certification required within a year.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a clinical setting as a clinical or liaison librarian; Demonstrated experience in providing patient education and teaching graduate students in the health sciences; Experience providing Consumer and Patient Health Information Service.
